SOLUTION 1

INDUSTRY: FURNITURE

REQUIREMENT: Complex commision pay for delivery drivers and helpers

DESCRIPTION: Drivers and Helpers were paid a commision based on the prior pay period data about what routes they worked, what job they did and whether they crossed specified thresholds for each job.

SOLUTION: Using a combination of user-defined tables, employee job-related data, time information and Oracle’s robust fast formula functionality we were able to parse through the information and calculate very precisely what was needed for every single employee that qualified for this type of pay.

INDUSTRY: ENERGY

REQUIREMENT: System Automated Severance Payment

DESCRIPTION: The client was manually calculating severance payments outside of their legacy system due to the system’s inability to calculate payments based on several factors, for e.g. the employee’s union, their length of service and the job.

SOLUTION: Using a combination of information elements, user-defined tables and fastformulas, we were able to mimic the exact process that was happening outside of the system for years.

INDUSTRY: EDUCATION

REQUIREMENT: Complex Contract Pay Calculation

DESCRIPTION: School teachers are paid on an agreed contract basis every year even though the teachers are full-time regular employees. There are several schools in the school system, and contracts vary depending on the school. Within each school, there are also multiple contracts. Teachers are classified within the purview of these contracts based on a  combination of work schedules offered by the board of school education. This solution demonstrates an example of a 10-month contract and 190-day work schedule with a pay frequency of Semi-Monthly.

SOLUTION: Using a combination of information elements, user-defined tables, schedules and fastformulas, among other system structures, we were able to automate what had otherwise been a very time-consuming and complex payment tracking system.

SOLUTION 4

INDUSTRY: HEALTHCARE

REQUIREMENT: Complex Union Dues Redesign

DESCRIPTION: The company had over fifty (50) unions, all calculating dues in various ways. We were asked to rewrite how eligible earnings were tracked and used in calculating union dues.

SOLUTION: Eliminating a design that tied all of the accumulated data used for calculating the earnings and resorting instead to using several user-defined tables, in conjunction with a looping design in the fastformula, helped us launch a robust and elegant design that eliminated earlier problems completely.
